This video is telling about the history in china between 1911-1949. It shows different rulers of china including Mao Zedong.
Communist Influence:
After hearing about the successful Russian Revolution the young Mao found interest in communism. In 1921, he became one of the inaugural members of the Chinese Communist Party. Mao still supported both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party but over the next few years, he adopted Leninist ideas and believed that appealing to the farming peasants was the key to establishing communism in Asia. He rose up through the ranks of the party as a delegate assemblyman and then executive to the Shanghai branch of the party.
The Communist Revolution
After years of Civil War between the nationalist forces and communist forces of China, the nationalist forces steadily lost their ground. Chinese nationalist leader fled to Taiwan and established it as their new capital. Communist leader Mao Zedong officially proclaims the existence of the People´s Republic of China. Mao leadership led to two major projects to reform China; the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward.
THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD
In 1966, China’s Communist leader Mao Zedong launched what became known as the Cultural Revolution in order to reassert his authority over the Chinese government. Mao called on the nation’s youth to purge the “impure” elements of Chinese society and revive the revolutionary spirit that had led to victory in the civil war and the formation of the People Republic of China. This resulted in a major failure with 1.5 million people killed and millions more suffering imprisonment, eviction and torture.

The Great Leap Forward was another reform that was created by Mao so that China´s economy could rival that of the worlds superpowers like the United States. He thought he could do that by developing China's industry and agriculture. Although this significantly increased the production of food, steel, and lumber in China it soon went all wrong ending with million dead of starvation and lots of destroyed forest.
